World Mental Health Day – 10th October 2022

Safety PAL is working hard to raise awareness around mental health; we have a mental health advisor on hand and ready for all questions, queries, help and advice – Email awareness@yoursafetypal.com

We have been doing our utmost to increase our award-winning suite of tools to better support, monitor, and manage your worker’s mental health and well-being.

This article does not highlight the wide range of mental health problems nor detail the hidden problem which develops from hidden feelings associated with the stigma of mental health…

Instead, Safety PAL wants to concentrate on crucial deliverables, ways to help you and your team monitor, control and support all your workers from the most basic principles of mental health and well-being up to the more severe stages of the mental health scale.

Over The Years

This year’s theme is “Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority.” More and more people are experiencing poor mental health because of the rising living cost, among other things. Yet still, there is a huge stigma, discrimination, lack of housing, and employment welfare support.

Over the past year, things have started to change. The stigma around mental health issues such as anxiety and depression has improved – And so has the help offered to these individuals. The NHS long-term plan has committed to creating a community model of mental health care, and the government is reforming the Mental Health Act – But still, it’s not enough.

“74% of teachers believe poor mental health support is affecting children’s ability to learn. The government can’t ignore the evidence any longer. School should be a place where young people feel safe and cared for. It should be a place where young people can access support with their mental health, as soon as they need it. This is why we’re calling for urgent funding for dedicated mental health support in every school.”

“Black people are still four times more likely than their white counterparts to be sectioned. LGBT+ people are at more risk of suicidal behaviour and self-harm than non-LGBT+ people. People living with severe mental illness still have a shorter life expectancy than others. And the the cost of living crisis is plunging thousands of people across the country into debt.”

Quote from Rethink

The reality of mental health is an unfair and cruel world – And it needs to change.
