My name is Steven Stelpflug, a highly experienced Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) individual with 25+ years experience in the oil and gas sector, power generation and other heavy industries.
You will probably know me from supporting businesses in the area of Human Resources, Environment, Health and Safety training and assurance.
When it found me!
While hosting a Risk Management webinar with Safeopedia earlier this year, I was asked a question from a webinar participant;
“Why don’t companies and managers look to engineer out the problem rather than engineering in a solution?”
I was not able to answer this question in the webinar, so I made contact with this person via email and LinkedIn after the event – The person’s name is Karl Spencer.
We had a few engaging conversations, all relating to the reduction of risk and getting organisations to be more intune with their legal obligations, ultimately to protect their business owners from citations, penalties and onerous injury claims
It was on our third conversation, I remember logging onto the video call, and while stating to Karl, no company can entirely prevent harm while also protecting business owners. There are too many variables, and inevitably costs always come into it. That was when Karl excitingly challenged me and said:
“There is! And I can prove it!”
